Style in the City presents STYLE COUTURE in the beautiful setting of Number Twenty Nine The Georgian House Museum, on 29 Fitzwilliam St Lower.

FOUR FLOORS, FOUR DESIGNERS, FOUR GARMENTS!!

The exhibition will feature garments by four of Ireland's most distinguished fashion designers, Peter O'Brien, Louise Kennedy, Jen Kelly and Joanne Hynes, offering a glimpse into the world of couture and high fashion.

Joanne Hynes:
In a short space of time, Joanne Hynes has become one of the most respected designer labels in Ireland. Her work has been shown in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Vienna, Tokyo, Edinburgh and at home in Ireland and has featured in Elle, Vogue and the Sunday Times Style Magazine. For her Winter Collection 2008/09 Joanne continues her love affair with modern evening wear mixed with special daywear to evening pieces. With her renowned trademark use of texture there is a play with clean modern cuts set against signature explorations of textures and hand detailing which is of special interest to Joanne. Joanne will be creating a one off piece especially for Style in the City.

Peter O'Brien:
Peter has worked for the houses of Christian Dior, Givenchy and Chloe, taking over as designer from Guy Paulin at Chloe in 1986. In 1989, Peter entered The House of Rochas, working there as deisgner until 2004. Peter now works freelance and his projects include a ready to wear collection for a popular Irish high street chain, designing for theatre and made-to-order couture.

Louise Kennedy:
Louise Kennedy is one of Ireland's most successful fashion designers who continues to build an international reputation for creating clothes that are appreciated for their quality of design and sophistication. Since establishing her own label her name has become syonymous with elegance, luxury and understated design. Throughout there is an emphasis on the highest standards of workmanship and fabrication, which appeal to those who value discrete luxury and contemporary glamour.

Jen Kelly:
Jen Kelly is one of Ireland's leading haute couture designers having designed for the President, Mary McAleese, created the costumes for Riverdance and shown his collection to the Princess of Saudi Arabia. What distinguishes Jen Kelly from the rest are the tailoring and the fabric. Jen Kelly couture is very subtle and therefore highly commercial. He is the last bastion of Irish haute couture designing clothes for debs right through to brides and the mature woman. Couture isn't about high fashion it's timeless, life-long style.

Number Twenty Nine:
Number Twenty Nine is one of ten houses restored by the ESB in the late 1980's and is run in association with the National Museum of Ireland. It reflects the dominant architectural and decorative style of the period 1790-1820 and provides an insight into Dublin life of the time. www.esb.ie/numbertwentynine
